Personal uses OpenAI's natural-sounding standard voice — completely clear and pleasant for background listening. Agent/API and Team tiers get HD voice (tts-1-hd), which is audibly better in headphones: smoother pacing, richer tone, more natural emphasis. If you listen a lot and quality matters, upgrade for HD.
Credits: 1 credit covers up to ~15k characters. Longer articles count as 2-3 credits.
Common questions.
What happens when I hit my article limit?
We'll notify you by email when you're at 80% of your monthly credits. Once you hit 100%, new episode creation is paused until your next billing cycle or until you upgrade. Existing episodes remain playable.
How long does it take to create an episode?
Typically 1–3 minutes for a standard article (2,000–5,000 words). Longer articles may take up to 5 minutes. Agent/API and Team users get priority processing.
Can I use my own OpenAI API key?
Not currently in the hosted version. The CLI (open source) supports your own API key for self-hosted use. A BYOK option is planned for Phase 2.
What content can't be converted?
Pages that require authentication, paywalled content, pages with very little text (<200 words), and content in unsupported languages may fail or produce poor results. We return a clear error in these cases.
Is my podcast feed private?
Yes. Your RSS feed URL contains a cryptographically random 256-bit identifier — it's effectively unguessable. No login is required to subscribe (so podcast apps work natively), but no one can find your feed without the URL. You can reset your feed URL at any time.
Can I use PodAnchor in my AI agent?
Yes — this is a first-class use case. The Agent/API plan gives you full REST API access, per-user feed creation, and an OpenClaw SKILL.md. Read the API docs or check out the SKILL.md.
